Assistant Accounts Payable

Location – London, Hertfordshire

Salary – £19,000

Tenure – 6 MONTHS FIXED

Job purpose

  • To support the existing accounts payable team in the data collection and input of supplier information via both electronic and manual systems;
  • To free up the time of the company accountant to be more involved in management accounting and analysis of data;

Duties and responsibilities

  • Inputting Invoices and Credit notes on SAP System
  • Checking invoices against purchase orders
  • Scanning invoices into the system
  • Resolving purchase ledger queries with suppliers/departments
  • Checking and inputting staff expenses
  • Liaising with the business to ensure invoices have been approved
  • Run and raise payment runs for GBP, EUR and Dollars accounts
  • Supplier statement reconciliations,
  • Opening and sorting of post
  • Inter-company reconciliation
  • The first point of contact for suppliers
  • General office administration

Working conditions

  • 5s standard
  • Working within an office-based environment
  • 38.00 hours per week
  • May require some flexibility in days worked around month-end and year-end reporting requirements
  • Involves liaising with employees in both an office and production-based environment

Education and qualifications

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of working in an accounts department
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as excel, outlook and word
  • Knowledge of SAP – not essential
  • Accounting assistant certificate
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Able to deal with suppliers
  • Accounts payable training course
